Signing of Memorandum of Understanding between Institute of Social and Environmental Transition (ISET)-International, Colorado, USA and Centre for Environment, Energy and Climate Change (CEECC), ADRI, Patna
CEECC -ADRI signed MoU with the ISET-International, Colorado, USA
Patna 10, December. The Centre for Environment, Energy and Climate Change (CEECC) at Asian Development Research Institute (ADRI), a policy research think tank signed Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Institute for Social and Environmental Transition- International (ISET-International), Colorado, USA for strengthening the South Asian Research Collaboration in the field of Environmental Resource Management and Climate Change. A well-recognized and Colorado (US) based social sciences organization ‘ISET-International’ works intensively on water management issues in many parts of South Asian Countries as well as in other parts of the world.
The MoU signing also had discussions on mainstreaming climate change through more action oriented research.
Dr. Shaibal Gupta, Member Secretary, ADRI in his welcome address said Climate Change agenda has been taken by ADRI through CEECC is now well taken by the State of Bihar. Bihar has the potential to become the model for other States on Climate Change Adaptation.
Dr. Abinash Mohanty, Director CEECC reiterated that this MoU with ISET will be an action oriented one and we look forward to scale the research between Bihar and South Asian region. He also stated CEECC is committed to make serious efforts to make the region climate proofed through evidence based research.
Prof. A K Ghosh, Chairman, Bihar State Pollution Control Board delivered the keynote addressed and said that Bihar would be water stressed by 2030, hence CEECC play an important role to make Bihar climate proofed with research and evidence. He assured that BSPCB will fully support CEECC.
Mr. Ken MacCulne, Founder & Senior Scientist, ISET-International in his introductory address said that this collaboration will further strengthen the research and evidence generation in the South Asian Region and India in particular with this MoU. He also stated that eastern India will be worst affected by unrelenting heat and affect those who depend on environmental resources abundantly.
Prof. Prabhat P Ghosh chaired the scientific discussion session and said that Social Science and scientific evidence can make Climate Change more palatable and hence this MoU is one of the inception steps.
Prangya Paramita Gupta presented the overview of the National Environmental Survey work and the Mr. Sashikant Chopde, Senior Associate ISET-I enlisted that water management, risk atlas and water auditing will be the synergetic areas for strengthening the research.
Vivek Tejaswi presented the vote of thanks. Dr. Sunita Lall, Treasurer ADRI, Dr. Gopal Sharma, Senior Scientist, ZSI and other faculty members from ADRI were also present in the MoU Signing round table event.
