Patna, 10 July. Centre for Environment, Energy and Climate Change (CEECC) [at Asian Development Research Institute, Patna] which is also an Environment Information System (ENVIS) Resource Partner on Water Management Climate Change under the aegis of MoEFCC, Govt. of India, commenced its training session of the Ministry’s ambitious flagship project - Green Skill Development Programme (GSDP) today. GSDP - a project of the EI division of the Ministry of Environment, Forest & Climate Change which has been designed in collaboration with the National Skill Development Agency under NSQF framework of the Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship, Government of India. The aim of the project is to tackle the environmental challenges that the world is facing today through green skilling the country’s youth to fight the menace of environmental degradation and climate change. GSDP will provide youth with adequate training at all levels to deliver skilled manpower for environment conservation. CEECC is the pan India lead centre for water auditing and budgeting course and is hoisting this course with its knowledge partner EPTRI, Hyderabad.
The course includes training sessions on Water Budgeting & Auditing and Pollution Monitors. A total of 41 participants from across turned up with the age ranging between 20 to 35 years from various academic disciplines who have proved their skill to work towards the common goal of conserving the nature. This 45 days of training would witness experts from various sectors like academicians, activists, environmentalists who would train the participants in the classroom as well as on field in an interdisciplinary manner to create a pool of community level environmental champions, who can peer head the agenda of tackling environmental degradation and climate change. The GSDP aims to create 80000 water auditors by the end of the year.
Dr. P P Ghosh, Director, ADRI during the orientation session stated that “(social) scientists alone cannot change the world by their inventions or policies, but whole community has to work together in order to get the schemes implemented.” Abinash Mohanty, Director, CEECC interacted with all the participants where everyone briefed their relevant skills and works in the field. The GSDP co-ordinator and Information Officer of CEECC- Prangya Paramita Gupta conducted the orientation where participants were briefed about the course, its aim and scope along with the other members of ENVIS team Vivek Tejaswi- Programme Officer and Ravi Ranjan, GIS Expert cum Project Coordinator, who have put their hard efforts to launch and design the course.
