Book Release entitled 'Chitthiyan Renu Ki Bhai Birju Ko' co-edited by Smt Ruchira Gupta and Shree Prayag Shukla

Patna 25 March.  A book titled “Chitthiyan Renu Ki Bhai Birju Ko” was released today by Dr. Anil Sulabh, President, Bihar Hindi Sahitya Sammelan. This event was organized by Asian Development Research Institute (ADRI), Apne Aap Worldwide and Gandhi Sanghralaya. The book was edited by Smt.  Ruchira Gupta and Shree Prayag Shukla and published by Rajkamal Prakashan.

Shree Prayag Shukla described the book as a collection of letters written by the noted litterateur of Bihar, Phanishwar Nath Renu, to his friend, Shree Bal Krishna Gupta. He said that the lives of authors with a big reputation do not end and this book proves that. Renu has been able to get the joy of public life within reach of the common man.

Noted litterateur Professor Arun Kamal sketched out three aspects of Renu’s life as presented in this book. Renu was always facing economic hardships and loved to eat well. Also, he was also involved in politics. Quoting Nirmal Verma, Professor Kamal said that reading Renu is an obstacle as well as a boon.

Dr. Anil Sulabh opined that Renu was a writer who could identify the pulse of the people very well. Smt. Ruchira Gupta said that Renu used to depict the Kosi River as a woman. Noted socialist leader Shree Shivanand Tiwari (RJD) also spoke on the occasion and praised the role of Bal Krishna Gupta’s family in public service. Dr. Rambachan Rai, Shree Tarun Kumar, Dr. Brajesh Pandey also spoke on the occasion.

An exhibition of paintings was presented by Smt. Ruchira Gupta before the book release. Artists of IPTA and Nrivaga regaled the audience with their music and songs.

Earlier, Dr Prabhat P Ghosh, Member Secretary of ADRI praised Renu in his Welcome Address for succeeding as an author even though he was from a rural background and of modest means during his formative years. Most successful authors have been from rich and urban backgrounds. Dr. Ashmita Gupta compered the event and the Vote of Thanks was delivered by Shree Ashok Maheshwari of Rajkamal Prakashan.
