Patna, December 20.  Asian Development Research Institute (ADRI) organized a Book Discussion today on the book Kathmandu Chronicle: Reclaiming India-Nepal Relations, written by India’s former Ambassador to Nepal Shree K. V. Rajan, and co-authored by columnist Mr. Atul K Thakur. Shree Rajan stated that India and Nepal need to learn from the past and change their mindsets. We should take a people-centric approach and not bother about who is in power in these two countries. This approach has been adopted in the past. He believed that the problem of mistrust that existed between the two countries will be alleviated in the coming days. In diplomacy, one nation should be sensitive about how its policy will be perceived in the other country.

Mr. Atul Thakur pointed out that extensive India-Nepal economic relations are helping create close ties. More than 12 hundred trucks carrying merchandise pass through the Indo-Nepal border at Birganj every day. However, he regretted the fact that the Nepalese government is not doing enough about sensitizing the people to climate change issues, unlike the Nepalese civil society and businesses.

Earlier, Professor Ajit Sinha, Director of ADRI introduced the Ambassador and also delivered the Welcome Address. Among those present virtually and in-person included Dr. Ashmita Gupta, Dr. Sunita Lall and Dr. Ushasi Gupta.
