The Centre, in collaboration with CSTEP, has prepared an evidence-based policy document on two-seater e-rickshaw. The study was submitted to the Bihar Industrial Area Development Authority (BIADA). A detailed primary survey of more than 500 manual rickshaw pullers was carried out in different pre-identified locations (e.g. Rain Basera) of Patna city. The finding of the study indicates that the replacement of manual rickshaw may increase of about 10 to 30 per cent in the average daily earnings of rickshaw pullers. It has been recommended that a pilot-scale deployment of e-rickshaws, a comprehensive charging infrastructure plan, and a policy framework that also focuses on establishing E-rickshaw manufacturing facilities in Bihar can take place.
