Considering the importance of effective and time-bound implementation of the control measures listed in the clean air action plan, the Centre has established a PMU at BSPCB. The unit is sponsored by the SSEF and Bloomberg Philanthropies. It is mandated to identify the gaps and opportunities in terms of air quality improvement in all non-attainment cities of Bihar. However, it has a major focus on Patna city air quality. Recently, based on the recommendations of PMU, a greater number of continuous ambient air quality monitoring stations (CAAMS) has been proposed to install in different locations to monitor the air pollution level. The unit is also supporting BSPCB in training and capacity enhancement of the associated people working on air quality management.
