Brief of the Organization:

The Centre for Health Policy (CHP) at the Asian Development Research Institute (ADRI) in Patna has been set up with support from the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation to strengthen the health sector in Bihar with a multi-dimensional and multi-disciplinary approach. Its aim is to engage in rigorous analysis of the health system and inform policy makers to fine tune interventions for even stronger outcomes. Aligned with the larger goal of ADRI, the Center is also working on impact focused knowledge management via institutionalizing, showcasing, and facilitating quality and sustainable evidence-based learning through research and action across diverse sectors – Health, Education, Livelihood, Climate Sustainability, Gender Equality, Finance and allied; along with intersectoral linkages for multiple partners and varied stakeholders.

Eligibility:

Required

  • Master’s in Public Health/Health Care Management/ Hospital Administration/Biological Science or equivalent
  • Good knowledge in Research Methodology, Diseases and their risk factors, Health System and Services of India – its structure and functions, Climate change and resilience, Social equity, Innovations
  • Demonstrable excellent oral and writing communication skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word/PowerPoint/Excel
  • Capability of Qualitative/Quantitative data analysis
  • Demonstrable experience of developing:
    • Research proposals
    • Scientific publications
  • Experience of one or more years of engagement with national/internationals organization in research and development positions
  • Experience of liaising with stakeholders and national/international donors
  • Experience of developing new research proposals

Desired

  • Capacity of study designing, preparation of research study tools, developing plans for data quality control and assurance, developing analytical plans, content writing, data analysis, scientific manuscript development
  • Knowledge in health statistics and statistical methods
  • Knowledge of Epidemiology and health Systems

Responsibilities:

Research Associate will undertake the following roles and responsibilities of conducting research, specifically represented by but not limited to the details below, under the direction and guidance of the supervisor:

Provide technical expertise:

  • To specifically design, analyze and report findings of the research studies assigned.
  • To be accountable for success of the research team, specifically, in terms of efficiency, quality and timeliness of the research studies and deliverables.
  • Preparation of study design for different assessments (quantitative and qualitative).
  • Preparation of sampling frame/tools/instruments relevant for indicators of interest.
  • Managing pre-testing and cognitive testing of tools/instruments developed for various research studies and innovations.
  • Managing data processing (directing the preparation of data entry software, entry of data through data entry operators at the state-level data entry center, back-check of data entry and cleaning of entered data).
  • Preparation of analytical reports of each component of the projects assigned.
  • Interpret and communicate findings with relevance to the study objectives and programmatic goals.

Operational Management and Capacity Building:

  • To ensure training of all the data collectors (project and government level) and data quality assurance supervisors (project and government level) and any others involved in data collection on each relevant component of the Research studies – on methodology, tools and data collection protocols through on-the-job training, classroom trainings and hand-holding relevant for assessments.
  • Ensuring effective documentation of project efforts, learning and achievements.
  • Ensuring all the communication (including reports, papers, presentations) from the Research Projects adhere to ethical guidelines and organizational values.
  • Assist in the preparation of annual reports, case studies, briefs, presentation & other reports to interpret and disseminate outcomes and learnings
  • Manage the relationship with the vendors / consultants; brief, monitor and support the consultant to achieve objectives of the assignment; and, ensure high quality of output / deliverable is delivered on time and at reasonable cost.

Other Responsibilities

  • Understanding and collating the learnings from different sites and regions and develop a common information sharing module and disseminate the same
  • Prepare slide-decks for sharing data and findings with Government stakeholders
  • Prepare reports on findings / results from different research studies for communicating with stakeholders at various levels.
  • Support in developing and writing papers for publication and presentations
  • Documenting project progress for use in every successive monthly meeting with district and state leadership of government and for sharing with external stakeholders.
  • Travel within or beyond the program areas for 10-30% of the time.

Remuneration:

Commensurate with knowledge and experience. Maximum Rs. 75,000 per month will be offered for the deserving candidate.
