Brief of the Organization:
The Centre for Health Policy(CHP) at Asian Development Research Institute’s is a research and development institute supported by Bill & Melinda Gates Foundationto strengthen the health sector in Bihar with multi-dimensional and multi-disciplinary approach. Its aim is to engage in rigorous analysis of the health system and inform policy makers to fine-tune interventions for even stronger outcomes.It will strengthen the larger technical and implementation work that is ongoing through several partners in Bihar for several years. CHP primarily acts as a knowledge hub to support such ongoing work. It follows an inter-disciplinary approach, as health outcomes, depend on other development policies including education, urbanization, disaster risk reduction, gender equality and women’s empowerment, livelihoods, sustainable agriculture and the environment.
Position: Research Assistant
Number of position: 2 (Two)
Preferred Qualifications:
The successful candidate will possess some or all of the following characteristics:
- Fluency in written and spoken English and Hindi;
- Masters in Rural Development, Political Science, Economics, Development Studies and other Social Sciences.;
- Data collection, management and analysis skills
- Willingness and ability to spend extensive periods of time, (as and when required, to include weekends and evenings) in remote areas of Bihar often at minimal notice;
- Experience in Program Management and logistics.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word/PowerPoint/Excel
- Experience/ expertise in content writing
Duties and Responsibilities
1. Program Management Activities
- Data Collection & Management;
- Contribute substantial input to development of work plans, research questions, project concept notes, and field research guides;
- Collaboration with government officials and other stake holders in respect of the study;
- Represent the project in coordination meetings, staff meetings, workshops, and meetings with stakeholders;
- Help to develop and coordinate research dissemination and follow-up activities,including providing substantive advice on the future direction of the program;
- Other duties as required.
2. Field Research Management Activities
- Conduct interviews with a variety of actors (government officials, mental health professionals, members of social welfare institution etc), using a full-range of qualitative research techniques;
- Assist in the management of a local research team, including providing training, mentoring and on-site monitoring of researchers;
- Provide insights into the findings of field research, using substantial local knowledge (political, institutional, cultural, etc); and
- Other duties as required.
Remuneration:Remuneration will be commensurate with knowledge, experience and quality of publications. Maximum Rs. 50,000 per month will be offered for the deserving candidate.
Location : Patna, Bihar , with field work
